Meat and poultry group Towers Thompson has established a new UK seafood division, Towers Thompson Seafood Ltd.
The company said that the move is in line with its strategy to become a significant seafood importer-exporter in Europe and compliments its German seafood business, Rassau Seafood.

“After the unexpected collapse of British Seafood we really saw an opportunity to expand in the UK seafood market,” a spokesperson for the group confirmed.
“The new UK division will work cooperatively with Rassau to maximise buying opportunities and efficiencies wherever possible,” the spokesperson added.
The UK division is located in Grimsby and will be headed up by former Bloomsbury International executives Nick Wilson and Jason Letch, who will serve and MD and sales director respectively.
“TT Seafood have a highly motivated and experienced team who we believe are ideally placed to take advantage of a growing demand for top quality imported seafood. With the group’s financial backing and the support of Rassau Seafood we believe TT Seafood will prove to be a great asset to the group,” Towers Thompson said in a statement.
