Unilever has sold the UK and Irish rights to its Chicken Tonight and Ragu cooking sauces brands to local firm Symington’s.

The consumer goods giant revealed last year that it was mulling the future of the two brands and today (8 August) announced a deal with Symington’s for an undisclosed sum.

Unilever will remain the owner of Chicken Tonight and Ragu outside the UK and Ireland. Under the agreement with Symington’s, Unilever will make the brands at its site in the Dutch town of Oss for at least the next three years.

Unilever said it was “very pleased” with the deal and insisted it was “confident” the brands would have a “successful future under the stewardship of Symington’s”.
