Pepsi last month announced it was acquiring the Wotsits cheesy puff brand as part of the break-up of Golden Wonder, with The Snack Factory buying the rest of the portfolio.

Wotsits are the jewel in Golden Wonder’s Crown, with more than one million bags sold every day. United Biscuits said that the acquisition of Wotsits would nudge Walkers’ share of the £2bn (US$2.9bn) bagged snack market over 50%, giving it an unfair domination of the market.

This contrasts with United Biscuits’ 16% share of the market.
