United Biscuits has confirmed that it plans to restructure its manufacturing operations at its McVitie’s production site in Glasgow.
A spokesperson for the biscuit and snack maker said that the group “regretted” the redundancies at the Tollcross site but emphasised the need to “remain competitive”. “We are committed to manufacturing at the site,” the spokesperson said today (21 February).

About 85 jobs will be lost at the facility, which currently employs around 700 staff. The site manufactures 50 tonnes of biscuits under various brands, including Hobnobs and Go Ahead, annually. Production will not be affected by the move.
