US slimming group Weight Watchers said it plans to take UK retailer Tesco to court over alleged abuse of its trademark.

Tesco has used a ‘points’ claim on the packaging of some of its pizza products, to indicate to slimmers following the popular Weight Watchers programme how many WW points the product contains.

Last week a High Court judge refused to grant Weight Watchers an interim injunction ahead of the trial, which is expected to reach court in June. Mr Justice Lindsay said the evidence presented by Weight Watchers was insufficient to convince him that consumers were being deceived, reported the Financial Times.
