Upmarket UK grocer Waitrose has appointed David Jones as supply chain director.

Jones joined the John Lewis Partnership in 1982, and has held multiple roles across John Lewis and Waitrose, but most recently worked as divisional registrar for John Lewis.

Waitrose managing director Mark Price said: “David’s deep understanding of our business and wide experience at senior level makes him ideally suited to this role. I am delighted that, once again, we have been able to draw on our own talent pool to fill this important position. “

Jones takes the place of the retailer’s previous supply chain director, Mark Williamson, who became commercial director of the company in June.
