Upmarket UK retailer Waitrose is to open its first convenience store in London, with the creation of 60 jobs.

The Crouch End shop, a former Woolworths store, is expected to open in October following a multi-million pound refurbishment, the retailer said yesterday (14 July).
Up to 60 jobs will be created with the new store and recruitment begins this week.
The shop is the third Waitrose convenience store in the country after the supermarket launched its first in Nottingham last December and its second in Bristol in March.
A further convenience branch is expected to be opened at a location and date yet to be decided, Waitrose said.

By GlobalDataWaitrose director of development, Nigel Keen, said the retailer had been eyeing Crouch End for some time.
“We have found a location that will allow us to attract shoppers to the high street and trade successfully. Through revitalising a vacant building, we will not only create new jobs, but provide a wider choice of shopping services for the local community.
“Our two existing convenience stores have successfully ensured we offer something unique within the market and we are confident Crouch End will further enhance our growing reputation in this sector.”
Last month Waitrose saw its sales leap by more than 17% year-on-year, boosted by its own-label Essential line.
The budget range, which comprises of 800 lines in white packaging, will cover 1,400 staple grocery products by October.
