The UK’s second-largest supermarket chain, Asda, has said it is to recruit around 10,000 permanent staff to work as little as ten weeks each year.

Asda, which is owned by US retail titan Wal-Mart, said the move was aimed at cutting recruitment costs.
Staff would mainly be required to work during the Easter and Christmas periods and during the summer holidays, reported Reuters.
The retailer said it would target people over 50 years old. Asda said it already employs many people aged over 50, a move which has improved customer service and lowered employee turnover.
