Consumers are unlikely to turn to the net for their weekly grocery shop, according to a report today in Which? The negative verdict was revealed after the watchdog magazine hired 25 volunteers to check out four supermarket sites; Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Iceland.

In total, the volunteers placed forty orders, and discovered that the whole procedure was usually time-consuming, frustrating and unreliable. Having overcome problems with the search engines, many of the deliveries contained sub-standard or un-ordered products.


Helen Parker, editor of Which?, concluded: “E-supermarkets have lots to offer shoppers but, at the moment, they bring plenty of disappointments too. [They] have a way to go before they become the first choice for convenience shopping.”
