Whole Foods Market is on the look-out for selling space in some of the UK’s most developed urban areas as part of its plan to gradually expand its presence in the country.

“We feel that our chain is best suited to urban areas where customers are willing and able to pay a premium for natural and organic goods,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food.


The natural and organic retailer has set its sights on a number of urban markets, including Birmingham, Manchester and further sites in and around London.


According to a report in UK newspaper the Daily Mail, the retailer has been negotiating on a store in Birmingham, due to open in 2010.


However, Whole Foods declined to comment before any leases had been signed.
