UK cheese-maker Wyke Farms has insisted its namesake brand is going from “strength to strength” as the business trims distribution and head office jobs.
Wyke said today (1 December) that it was in redundancy talks with 15 workers although it maintained the company would look to offer the affected staff other roles throughout the business.
The group said its retail customers were moving to taking daily deliveries from their own central distribution hubs rather than ordering weekly deliveries from the cheese firm.
MD Richard Clothier said: “It is important that we evolve the business to meet changing customer needs and continue to drive business efficiencies in these tough economic times.”
Wyke insisted that a recent listing with Waitrose was an indication that its eponymous brand was going “from strength to strength”.
