Stott’s appointment will take effect from 1 March. He has previously held various senior finance roles within Dairy Crest and Whitbread Beer Co.

Zetar chairman David Williams said: “We are very pleased to welcome Mark to the board. I am confident that his energy together with his extensive financial experience within the food and drinks sector will be invaluable to the group as we continue to build on Zetar’s success.”

Zetar said in November that it is “confident” on delivering full-year growth, having posted a 6% increase in first-half sales.

In a trading update, the UK confectioner and snack maker said that sales in the first six months of the year to 31 October rose to GBP56.8m (US$94.6m), up from GBP53.6m in the comparable period of last year.
