Ukrainian confectioner IA Konti is eyeing growth in the Russian market.
“We confirm that we want to increase our market share in Russia,” a spokesperson for the group told just-food today (28 May).
The maker of sweets, desserts and baked goods aims to increase its share of the Russian confectionery market to 5.6% by 2010. It currently has a 3% market share.
The company declined to comment on exactly how this will be achieved but, according to Ukrainian reports, Konti plans to build a production and logistics complex in Kursk, Russia. This, it is believed, will allow the group greater market penetration.
At a cost of RUB6bn (US$252.6m) the 52,000 square metre facility will reportedly be operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
