UK crisp manufacturer Walkers has apologised for any offence caused by its latest television advert for Walkers Brit Trips.

The advert showed the top of a bus being sliced off as it passed under a low bridge. Former footballer Gary Lineker was distracted from driving by a pack of Walkers crisps.


“It was never our intention to offend anyone and we’re very sorry that some viewers found it upsetting,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food.


“Some consumers called our care line telling us the last scene in the latest Walkers advert for our Brit Trips on pack promotion upset them. We’ve listened and decided to edit the current advert to remove this scene.”


The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority told just-food earlier today (31 March) that it has launched an investigation to determine whether Walkers has breeched codes of advertising practice.
