Albertsons LLC has confirmed the closure of 26 under-performing stores across the US.
The closures include 11 stores in southern California, four outlets in the group’s southwest division, seven stores in the pacific northwest, two Acme Markets in Pennsylvania and two Shaw’s outlets in Massachusetts.

Both Shaw’s and Acme Markets come under the New Albertsons Inc division. This division was formed when Albertsons LLC acquired the remaining Albertsons stores – and rights to the Albertsons name – from SuperValu Inc, along with the Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw’s and Star Market chains in 2013.
In September, Albertsons LLC also acquired regional grocery chain United Supermarkets.
Speaking to just-food about the 26 store closures, a spokesperson for the group said they were “all identified as under-performing”.
“Despite our best efforts, we were unable to position them for future profitability,” the spokesperson added.
