US food group B&G Foods has introduced a range of ‘sugar free’ fruit preserves with added fibre.

The Polaner Sugar Free Preserves have 80% fewer calories than standard preserves and are sweetened with Splenda sweetener.


The products also contain 3 grams of fibre, 10 calories, 0g of sugar and 2g net carbs per tablespoon, the company claimed yesterday (1 October).


The preserves are available in Strawberry, Seedless Raspberry, Apricot and Seedless Blackberry Preserves along with Orange Marmalade and Concord Grape Jelly.


“Consumers told us they loved the low calories and taste of our Polaner Sugar Free Preserves, but they wanted more nutritional value, with fibre at the top of their wish list,” said Marvin Schwinder, director of marketing at B&G Foods. “Initial retailer and consumer response to this product has been tremendous.”
