French vegetable processor Bonduelle has confirmed it is investing US$20m over the next two years at its plants in the US.

Part of the investment will go towards improving production facilities in order to facilitate an increase in output, a spokesperson told just just-food.

Bonduelle acquired three plants and a packaging unit, located in the north-east of the country, last year from Allens.

There are plans for Bonduelle’s plant in Fairwater to up its its output of frozen sweetcorn by a third to 30,000 tonnes annually. The plant also processes peas,
carrots and celery and has a global output of around 50,000 tonnes.

“Followng successful deployment in Western and Eastern Europe, the US is now the focus of the next stage in our organic growth,” said the head of Bonduelle’s
Americas division, Daniel Vielfaure.
