Ron Marshall, who has stepped down as chief executive of book seller Borders Group, is said to be preparing to take the top job at supermarket group A&P.
In an announcement today (26 January), Borders said turnaround specialist Marshall had resigned, effective immediately.
Citing sources “familiar with the situation”, the Wall Street Journal reported that A&P was gearing up to announce Marshall’s appointment as chief executive.
When contacted by just-food A&P declined to comment on the rumours.
The supermarket group, which operates banners including A&P, Waldbaum’s and Pathmark, has struggled under mounting losses and has looked to reinvigorate sales through a greater focus on promotion.
