Campbell Soup Co. has posted a set of bumper full-year results thanks to sales growth across its business, the US group said today (6 September).


Campbell, which produces a range of soups, sauces and snacks, booked a 12% rise in operating income to US$1.3bn for the year to 29 July. The increase in earnings came as sales rose 7% to $7.9bn.


“For the year, our overall results were outstanding,” said Campbell president and CEO Douglas Conant. “Our performance in fiscal 2007 demonstrated the strength of our businesses within the simple meals, baked snacks, and vegetable-based beverages categories.”


Soup sales in the US rose 5% with growth across the portfolio. Revenue from the company’s baking and snacking division climbed 6%.


International soup and sauces sales rose 11% to just under $1.4bn. Soup sales buoyed growth in Western Europe and Canada.
