US-based Casey’s General Stores has acquired six Short Stop outlets owned by J.D. Carpenter Companies.

The company announced yesterday (28 October) that the Iowa-based stores will be “immediately” rebranded, with the introduction of Casey’s prepared foods range in the next six weeks. Casey’s aims to fully integrate the stores within six months.

“After approaching Short Stop nearly three months ago, we were pleased with how smoothly the process went,” said Casey’s president and CEO Robert Myers. “These are well managed, well maintained and high volume stores that fit perfectly into our business model and we are excited about the opportunity to integrate our prepared food program into these locations.”

The value of the deal was not disclosed.
