Castro Cheese Co., a producer of Hispanic dairy products, has hired former Juanita Foods chief executive Ric Alvarez as president and CEO.

Alvarez is experienced in the Hispanic and Mexican food market having held the top job at Mexican frozen foods group Ruiz Food Products before his spell at Juanita.


He said he would look to expand Castro’s business into new channels and markets, as well launch new products.


Private equity firm Palladium Equity Partners bought Castro, which is based in Texas, in August.
