US produce group Chiquita Brands International has appointed a CFO to succeed Michael Sims who has left to join AdvancePierre Foods.
Brian Kocher, who is president of Chiquita’s operations in Europe and the Middle East, will take up the role of senior VP and CFO upon the filing of the company’s 2011 annual report. He joined the firm in 2005 as president of Chiquita’s North America unit.

“I am extremely pleased to announce Brian’s new role as chief financial officer,” said Chiquita chairman and CEO Fernando Aguirre. “Brian’s outstanding track record of success in senior finance and operational roles makes him an ideal leader for our company.”
Kocher replaces Sims who has left to join US convenience foods manufacturer AdvancePierre Foods in the same capacity.
Chiquita said it has initiated a search process to appoint a replacement for Kocher’s role. In the interim, Kocher will continue to oversee Chiquita’s European business.
