The recall has been expanded to include the Albertson’s, Great Value (Wal-Mart), Kirkwood (Aldi), Hill Country Fare (HEB), Food Lion, Kroger, Meijer and Western Family brands.
ConAgra said it was voluntarily extending the recall to ensure consumer safety. The first recall was issued after ConAgra was contacted by state health officials regarding concerns that some of the products may be linked to an outbreak of salmonella.
The food giant said that in cooperation with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) it had on 9 October directed retailers to remove the poultry pot pies from shelves, suspended pot pie production at its plant in Marshall, Missouri, and advised consumers to not eat these products.
The original recall appeared to stem from concerns that microwave cooking instructions on the packs were not sufficiently clear.

By GlobalDataConAgra said that before the product returns to market, it will revise on-package cooking directions to “provide additional clarity on proper preparation by consumers”. It said that the proper cooking of all not-ready-to-eat products, including pot pies, is specifically designed to eliminate the presence of common pathogens found in many uncooked products.
Consumers were advised that they could return the product to the store where it was bought for a refund, or the side panel from the packaging bearing the relevant product code directly to ConAgra, also for a full refund.
