US food giant ConAgra Foods is to cut up to 250 jobs at its Batesville frozen food plant in Arkansas.
The cuts, confirmed yesterday (14 May), come as ConAgra prepares to move its frozen dinner production from the facility to its plant in Missouri.

The Batesville facility primarily produced Banquet and Kid Cuisine frozen dinners.
“This transition is necessary to manage costs and operate as efficiently as possible,” a spokesperson said. “This transition is expected to impact approximately 250 positions including production and management positions. We expect the positions to be eliminated in mid-July.”
It is understood ConAgra gave notice to the workers on Thursday, with the cuts affecting hourly workers and some managers.
In March, the company reported a 26.4% jump in third-quarter profits but the US food maker revealed underlying sales from its consumer division were flat as falling volumes offset prices hikes.
