French giant Danone’s US subsidiary the Dannon Company told just-food that it is eyeing considerable growth in turnover and production over the next five years.

Last month, it announced the expansion of its portfolio of probiotic fresh dairy foods with the introduction of three products during 2007 – DanActive dairy drink, Danimals with LGG drinks and lowfat yogurt, and Activia Light nonfat yogurt.

“Dannon aims to double its turnover of dairy products in the next five years as a result of the fast-growing US market and the introduction of new product innovations,” a company spokesman told just-food..

The increase in turnover will be matched by a doubling of capacity at Dannon’s plants in Minster, Ohio, and West Jordan, Utah, the spokesperson commented. However, the company declined to reveal how much Dannon was planning to invest in raising capacity.
