Sweetbay, which is owned by Belgium-based retailer Delhaize, said Vail would replace Shelley Broader, who left the company earlier this month.
Vail has spent over 20 years working for Sweetbay and fellow Delhaize-owned retailer Hannaford, holding roles including senior vice president of retail operations.
“This promotion recognizes Mike’s vision for Sweetbay,” said Ron Hodge, executive vice president of Delhaize. “His analytical ability, strong motivation and the creativity he brings to product and sales growth is outstanding and highly regarded throughout the industry.”
