US bakery group Stella D’oro has named a former George Westons executive as its president.

Stella D’oro, which makes cookies, breakfast treats, biscotti and breadsticks, said today (25 April) that Michele Abo would assume the role from 2 May.
Abo’s most recent position was as vice president for the Entenmanns’s division of George Weston Bakeries.
Stella D’oro chairman Henk Hartong said: “We are committed to strengthening and growing the Stella D’oro brand in our core markets while at the same time, strengthening our distribution on a national basis. Michele brings to Stella D’oro a superb track-record in both of these areas.”
In 2005, Kraft Foods sold Stella D’Oro to US private equity firm Brynwood Partners.
