General Mills has named former Sara Lee Corp. executive Roderick Palmore as executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance and risk management officer.

Palmore, who succeeds the retired Siri Marshall, previously served as executive vice president and general counsel at Sara Lee.

“With his considerable legal, government, and consumer product industry experience, Roderick brings outstanding credentials to this important leadership role,” said Ken Powell, chief executive officer of General Mills.

Palmore has been named on a recent Inside Counsel magazine list as one of the “50 most influential in-house counsels”.

Three years ago, Palmore helped launch “Call to Action” to improve the minority representation and mobility within the law firms providing services to major corporations.
