The US Food and Drug Administration has made public a letter detailing food safety violations at Kellogg’s Eggo manufacturing facility in Georgia.
The letter, which was sent to the US cereal giant last month, said that an FDA inspection conducted in October uncovered a number of issues at the company’s plant. Bacterial and sanitation violations included improper waste disposal and insufficiently sanitised equipment.

The letter comes after the Georgia Department of Agriculture discovered Listeria bacteria at the plant in August.
A spokesperson for Kellogg said that the inspection was carried out following a flood at the plant and while the facility was closed for “enhanced cleaning”.
The spokesperson added that Kellogg has now “fully addressed” the issues raised in the FDA’s letter.
The FDA was unavailable for further comment at time of press.
