Deli Star and King’s Food Products, two US companies with a common ownership through family ties, have decided to merge.

The families of brothers Dan and Tom Siegel own the businesses and decided there were opportunities on which to capitalise if the companies were brought together.

“King’s Food and Deli Star have been part of our family’s heritage for 25 and 30 years respectively, and we are proud of the success and solid reputation both companies have earned over the years,”  Deli Star president Justin Siegel said. “While reviewing both companies’ growth strategies, and by working with our customers at our St. Louis Innovation Center, our leadership team realised the synergies and opportunities that could be created if we combined operations.”

The enlarged company will use the Deli Star name but keep the King’s Food brand for that firm’s key line of fudge.

According to Deli Star’s LinkedIn page, the firm produces cooked meat products, as well as ready-to-eat meat entrées for retail sale. Its customer base includes further processors, foodservice outlets, wholesale food distributors and supermarket chains.

The King’s Food website describes the company as “a leading co-packer for more than 50 years”, with products including barbeque sauces, pasta sauces, salad dressings, salsas, and fudge.
