The new varieties include: Nature’s Own All Natural 100% Whole Wheat; Nature’s Own All Natural 100% Whole Wheat made with organic flour; Nature’s Own All Natural Honey Wheat made with organic flour; Nature’s Own All Natural Hearty Oatmeal; Nature’s Own All Natural 12-Grain; and Nature’s Own All Natural 9-Grain.


“Consumers are demanding nutritionally rich, heart-healthy foods without having to compromise taste, convenience, or budget,” said Janice Anderson, Flowers Bakeries’ vice president of marketing. “Nature’s Own new premium specialty breads offer whole grains containing nutrients that make eating bread healthy and tasty.”


The number of whole grain grams per slice is listed on the packaging of each loaf in order to give consumers a clear indication of whether they are meeting recommended daily intake.


Dr Karin Kratina, registered dietician and nutritionist at the University of Florida, said: “These products and their packaging clearly help consumers see the number of whole grain grams per serving so they have the information they need to make an informed decision.”
