A spokesperson for the Delhaize-owned chain told just-food that each year Food Lion targets a market where it will invest in updating its stores.
“Each year, we select a market in which to invest our capital expenditures to renew stores and in select market areas to reintroduce Food Lion to our valued consumers. In 2009, the markets selected include Columbia, South Carolina and Daytona Beach, Florida,” the spokesperson said.
In Columbia, the group plans to renew 32 Food Lion stores and in Daytona Beach it will update an additional five outlets. Additionally, Food Lion will renew or renovate three other stores in its Harveys brand, the company revealed.
