Food Markets Northwest has acquired a Queen Anne-based Larry’s Market store, and will assume the store’s lease, equipment and inventory next month.

The retailer, which owns and operates five supermarkets in Seattle and Tacoma, will operate the store under the Larry’s Market name for the foreseeable future.

The decision was handed down at a hearing in a US Bankruptcy Court, following an auction of the Larry’s Market chain.

“I have always admired the McKinney family’s supermarket story. The greater Seattle area was treated to a food retailer that was ahead of the rest of the country, and their dedication to bringing the best products to the market was second to none,” said Food Markets NW CEO Terry Halverson.

All current Larry’s Market employees have been invited to attend a metropolitan market career and job expo to fill current and upcoming positions at the Queen Anne Larry’s, the company said.
