US agribusiness company Bunge has appointed former Goodman Fielder executive Gordon Hardie as MD of its food and ingredients business.

Hardie, who spent seven years at Goodman Fielder before leaving the Australia-based food maker to set up M&A advisory firm Morningside Partners in 2009, will join Bunge on Friday (1 July).

Bunge said Hardie would “oversee the development” of its edible oil and milling businesses, which make commercial and retail products including bulk and bottled oils, bakery mixes, margarines and mayonnaise.

Alberto Weisser, Bunge’s chairman and CEO, claimed Hardie had a “long and proven track record of building successful food and beverage businesses internationally”.

“His knowledge of the food industry and breadth of experience leading operations and managing brands in a variety of product categories, marketing channels and geographies will be a strong complement to Bunge’s senior management team,” Weisser said.
