French bakery group Brioche Pasquier has confirmed that it has acquired California-based Galaxy Desserts which specialises in desserts and cakes with a French flavour.
The value of the transaction has not been disclosed. It is Pasquier’s first acquisition in the US.

A spokesman for Pasquier told just food that the group was planning to issue a statement later today.
Based in Richmond, Galaxy Desserts was set up in 1998 by Jean-Yves Charon and Paul Levitan, who each owned small specialty bakeries.
It employs around 200 staff and generates an annual turnover of close to EUR20m.
The company’s French-inspired desserts are sold through its website and in grocery stores across the country.

Pasquier employs 3,000 staff and operates from 16 plants. Apart from its base in France, it is present in several European countries such as Spain, Belgium, Germany
and the UK.
Its 2011 turnover was EUR545m.
