Food giant General Mills has launched a ‘heart healthy’ promotion for its Cheerios cereal brand in the US.
The promotion, launched today (29 June), offers consumers the opportunity to meet and spend time with country and western singer Martina McBride and baseball player Cal Ripken Jr.

The Cheerios ‘Do What You Love’ competition runs through to 23 July at www.Cheerios.com/love. Two winners will be notified the week of 10 August.
One winner will tour the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum with McBride, spend time with her in her recording studio in Nashville, Tennessey, and get VIP tickets to one of her upcoming concerts.
Another winner will have the chance to play baseball with Ripken and to tour the Ripken Youth Baseball Academy with him. The winner will also throw out the first pitch at the Cal Ripken World Series and sit in Ripken’s reserved seats at a professional Baltimore baseball game.
Applicants must submit a 150-250 word original story and photo detailing “what they love to do and how they take care of themselves”.
