Royal Ahold’s Giant Food Stores has seen a 400% increase in consumer website visits over the past year, leading the retailer to test a “shop from home” feature.

The website utilises the Grocery Shopping Network’s proprietary software.

“Partnering with Grocery Shopping Network has allowed us to help our customers maximize their trip to the grocery store by doing their planning from the comfort of their own homes. A personalised shopping list, on-line recipes, easy access to weekly specials, and meal planning solutions take the guesswork out of grocery shopping by offering another convenient way to save time and money,” Erik Keptner, SVP marketing & advertising at Giant said.

Currently, Giant’s website enables a consumer to create a shopping list via personalised offers, the weekly circular, a virtual pantry containing previous purchases, and a searchable database of over 64,000 recipes.

The increased popularity of the retailer’s online portal has prompted Giant to introduce a limited “shop from home” feature, now available at its Camp Hill, Pennsylvania store.
