Campbell Soup Co. has nominated the great-grandson of the US food group’s founder to the company’s board of directors.


The company said yesterday (24 September) that Archie van Beuren, descendant of John Dorrance was one of two nominees put up for election at its AGM on 19 November.


Van Beuren has been with Campbell for 26 years and has been the company’s chief customer officer since 2007. He headed up Campbell’s former upmarket chocolate business Godiva from 1999 to 2005.


The second nominee is Lawrence Karlson, who was most recently chairman and CEO of Berwin Financial Corp.


“We are delighted to have two experienced and respected business leaders join our board,” said Campbell chairman Paul Charron. “Lawrence Karlson brings entrepreneurial and international perspectives from experience at Berwind and Spectra-Physics AB, while Archie van Beuren brings a wealth of knowledge of the company and the packaged foods industry.
