Hero/Beech-Nut, the US subsidiary of Swiss consumer foods group Hero, has begun construction on its new US$124m 550,000 square foot infant food manufacturing facility.
The plant is located in the town of Florida in upstate New York, and is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2009. A ground-breaking ceremony took place in the town yesterday (21 May) to mark the beginning of construction work.
“Our new infant food manufacturing facility will provide us the opportunity to continue to innovate, create better manufacturing practices and new technologies that will continue to accelerate our growth,” said Christoph Rudolf, president and CEO of Hero/Beech-Nut.
