Interstate Bakeries, the bankrupt maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, revealed that its monthly losses increased by 34% in October, with sales remaining flat.

For the four weeks ending 21 October, Interstate posted losses of US$10.1m, up from a loss of $7.5m in the previous month. Sales for the month were $222.6m, down slightly from $226m in September. Operating costs were up slightly in the month, rising to $223.7m.
In October of last year, Interstate reported a loss of $19m on sales of $231.8m.
Interstate filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2004, and has filed monthly earnings reports since.
