Kellogg has pulled 36,000 packets of Special K in the US amid concerns the product could contain glass fragments.
The US cereal giant said it had taken a “limited amount” of three SKUs of Special K Red Berries off shelves.

“Kellogg initiated the voluntary action due to the possible presence of glass fragments, from a single batch of one of the ingredients. As soon as we became aware of the situation, we took immediate action to remove the potentially impacted products from the marketplace and immediately addressed the situation with our supplier,” a spokesperson told just-food.
“This is a very small recall involving about 36,000 boxes of cereal. The voluntarily recalled product was distributed across the U.S. to a limited number of retailers.”
In October, Kellogg recalled boxes of Mini-Wheat cereal in the US because of concerns the packets could have contained metal mesh.
In 2010, Kellogg had to recall cereal products in the US as a result of an “uncharacteristic off-flavour and smell” coming from the liner in the package.
