Kraft Foods has recalled over 12,000 cases of cereal in the US due to an undeclared allegen, the company has said.

Kraft has called back cases of Post LiveActive Mixed Berry Crunch Cereal because a “small number” of the boxes may contain tree nuts, which are not included on the label.

Only products with a ‘best when used by’ date of 17DEC08 and a UPC code of 00430000238900 are affected.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, Kraft said.

The nationwide recall was sparked by a customer report of an allergic reaction and Kraft’s review confirmed the presence of nuts in samples sent for testing.
