US supermarket retailer Kroger has announced that its workers who belong to the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 700 in Indianapolis have ratified a new labour agreement with the company.
“This agreement continues to provide quality jobs and affordable health care for our associates and their families and keeps Kroger competitive in this market,” said Bob Moeder, president of Kroger’s Central division. “We appreciate the hard work of both the Local 700 and the company’s negotiating teams. We also would like to thank the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service for their input throughout the process.”

Kroger’s Indianapolis-based division operates 154 stores, primarily in Indiana and Illinois, trading under the Kroger, Scott’s, Owen’s, Hilander and Pay Less banners.
The new agreement covers more than 4,200 Kroger employees, working in 60 stores in and around Indianapolis and other parts of Indiana including Bloomington, Crawfordsville and Kokomo.
“Our associates stayed focused on serving our customers during this process and we thank them for their efforts,” Moeder added.
