The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has warned of possible salmonella contamination in raw milk from the Conestoga Valley Dairy Farm in Ephrata, Lancaster County.

Consumers who have bought the raw milk “should discard it immediately” due to the risk of contamination, the department said.

Pennsylvania farms selling raw milk, which has not been pasteurised, are required to hold a permit and have product samples tested for disease-causing bacteria.

“During routine testing, samples taken at the dairy tested positive for salmonella,” Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff said. “If consumers have raw milk from this farm, they should discard it immediately.”

No illnesses have been reported as a result of the potential contamination.
