The chief marketing officer of US retailer Fresh & Easy has left the company “to pursue other interests”.
Simon Uwins, who has been in the role since UK retail giant Tesco entered the US market with its Fresh & Easy format in 2006, will be replaced by John Burry, who has been appointed to chief customer officer, adding marketing to his existing responsibilities of commercial and manufacturing.

A company spokesperson said: “John Burry, is a very experienced and talented Tesco director. He has over 23 years’ experience with Tesco, working in a range of senior commercial and marketing roles in the UK, the Czech Republic and the US. John was part of the original research team in the US and has been on the Fresh & Easy board from the beginning.”
The spokesperson added: “Simon was one of the people involved in the development of Fresh & Easy and would like to thank him for his contribution.”
Fresh & Easy operates approximately 180 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada.
