US grocer Meijer has recalled its own-label fresh hamburger and fresh ground beef sold in its stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky following an expanded recall from meat producer JBS Swift.

Meijer recalled its fresh hamburgers with the UPC code 20165500000 and “sell by” dates of 26 April to 19 June. It has also recalled its fresh ground beef products with the same “sell by” date range and UPC 201668000.


“While this Meijer brand product has not been identified as contaminated or linked to any illness, Meijer has received these products from the JBS Swift Company, which has been verified as a potential source of beef products contaminated with E. coli,” the company said in a statement.
