Meyer Natural Angus, the US beef processor, has struck a deal to buy Coleman Natural Foods, a maker of natural and organic beef.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, is expected to be sealed on 1 June.

Meyer Natural Angus said the deal would see it “significantly expand” its range of “premium-quality” natural beef.

“We will expand our market presence, associate with a brand that has been an innovator in natural beef,” said Meyer Natural Angus president Al Byers.

For its part, Coleman Natural insisted its decision to sell the beef business would leave it to focus on natural poultry and pork.
