Monogram said the acquisition will provide it with access to the ready-to-eat bacon category under its newly-created operating unit, Monogram Prepared Meats.

Shelby produces bacon jerky, which has national distribution under four brands: Bass Pro Uncle Buck’s, Johnsonville, Trails Best and Wild Bill’s.

Scott Carlson, Westin CEO, said that Shelby is a fast-growing business that is expected to accelerate growth thanks to the capital investment and larger sales force that it will find at Monogram.

For these reasons, Westin has become a “significant shareholder” in Monogram, Carlson added.
