Nestle has launched a line of frozen fruit and vegetable bars in the US under its Dreyer’s Outshine and Edy’s Outshine brands.

The new Fruit and Veggie bars combine fruit and vegetables in frozen bars. Flavours include Blueberry Medley, Tangerine Carrot, Apple and Greens, Peach Mango Medley and Strawberry Rhubarb. The new line also includes a 12-count multi-pack featuring Strawberry Rhubarb, Tangerine Carrot and Blueberry Medley.

The products are marketed under the Dreyer’s brand name throughout the Western states and Texas, and under the Edy’s brand name throughout the remainder of the US.

“We wanted to add a unique twist to our namesake fruit bars with fruit and vegetable combinations in delicious, complementary flavors,” said Kerry Hopkins, Outshine brand manager. “By adding vegetables to our recipes in this new line, we have created distinct flavour profiles that are a tasty way to include vegetables in your diet.”

Each Fruit and Veggie bar is 35-60 calories, contains at least 25% vegetables from purees and juices and a vitamin helping.

Dreyer’s Outshine Fruit and Veggie bars will be available nationwide for US$4.39 per box, which includes six 2.5 oz. bars. The Strawberry Rhubarb, Tangerine Carrot and Blueberry Medley Multi-Pack includes twelve 1.5 oz. bars per box, also at $4.29.
