The election, conducted by a special subcommittee, follows last year’s unexpected death of the US poultry giant’s previous CEO, O.B. Goolsby Jr.
“After a thorough review of internal and external candidates, the board unanimously agreed that Clint has the right combination of experience and skills necessary to lead Pilgrim’s Pride into the future,” said Ken Pilgrim, chairman of Pilgrim’s Pride and chairman of the subcommittee that conducted the search.
During his career at Pilgrim’s Pride, Rivers has held a variety of management positions, joining the company as quality assurance manager in 1986 before making his way up to COO in 2004.
The company has not yet made a decision about a new COO.
